GIVEAWAY CLOSED!
Thanks for entering!
Winners posted here!
A few weeks ago I was blog-surfing and stumbled across a cute little scarecrow button. “Fall into Fall Quilter’s Bloggers Giveaway“, it said! Always on the lookout for a good giveaway, I clicked on this guy:
Now, I’m sure that most of you are new to my blog. Sit a spell, take a few minutes, and read some posts. Don’t just click back to the list without even giving yourself a chance to figure out if you like it here! There are almost 200 blogs to visit, but you have 15 days to do it.
I’m all about having fun while quilting. Sometimes you’ll see me post about where I’m going, and what I’m doing. Other times, neat tips and tricks that I like to use. Tutorials are fun, when I have something unique to share. If I can figure out how to do buttons, I’ll have that one that says “I took the process pledge.” I have way too much fabric, too many books, and too many patterns. I’ve been quilting for about 15 years, and it’s interesting to see what’s come around again, what’s still in, and what’s still out.
I’m giving away two patterns, to two lucky commenters. One for the Modern quilters out there, and one for those that are a bit more Traditional.
If you’re a quick quilter you may still be able to get this one done in time for Halloween! Jack-o-lanterns with – get this – rickrack smiles! Rickrack’s even included! Pieces from the Heart designed Five Little Pumpkins for a layer cake and it finishes a nice large 67 1/2″ square!
The second pattern is from Esch House Quilts. It’s called Traffic Pattern, and it’s new. The quilt is bed-sized, finishing at 80″x90″. When I first looked at the pattern I couldn’t believe that I was looking at a whole-cloth quilt. It’s not! Debbie’s broken the design down into blocks to make it manageable for everyone. I couldn’t do justice to the pattern cover no matter how many photos I took, so hop on over to Esch House Quilt’s etsy shop to see pictures of her finished quilt. Beautiful!
Here’s how it works – leave me a comment with these three things:
- I’m looking for sites that showcase modern machine quilting, or pictures of great quilts with modern-style quilting. I don’t want pantographs, or stitch-in-the-ditch, or stippling.
- Tell me which pattern you’d like – Pieces from Heart’s Five Little Pumpkins, or Esch House Quilts’ Traffic Pattern.
- Make sure I can contact you!
I’d love for you to suscribe or follow me, but only if you want to, not just because it doubles your chance of winning. (Up at the top? There’s a spot to subscribe by email, or RSS, and right along the top there’s a button that says Follow Me.)
Unscientifically, I’ll ask my daughter to pick two numbers – one for each prize. Winner will be drawn on Oct 15 at about 9pm PST and will be contacted via email. Sorry, no international shipping.
Deb

I like the first one the best, but I know my daughter would be happy to win either one of them
I am entering for my daughter, her computer is down and she called and asked if once again I would enter her in contests, I couldn’t say no as she helps my wife and her mother with their charity quilting projects. I try to support them any way that I can, so here I am and I hope I am doing this right.
thank you for putting our name in your drawing. Florida area

Unfortunately I’m not a machine quilter, so I never look for sites like that… I have found that flickr has great group pools depending on what you’re looking for, and you’ll probably find a group pool there that showcases up-close quilting designs…
I love that Traffic Pattern quilt!
thanks for the opportunity to win ~

Leah Day is wonderful. Her 365 Days of Free Motion Quilting blog is amazing. She never seems to run out of ideas. On top of it all, she’s a wonderful person. She’s helped me out with advice on more than one occasion!!!

Thank you for this great giveaway. You’ve included both ends of the spectrum with your pattern giveaway choice!! Although I’m drawn to the wonderfully crooked smiles of the pumpkins, Traffic Pattern is TOTALLY out of my comfort zone. With the essence of your blog in mind (explaining in above post that quilting for you is fun), I’m going to venture outside the comfort zone and maybe find fun in a pattern I normally wouldn’t buy for myself and say, I’d like to be entered into the Traffic pattern hat!
Thanks bunches for participating and good luck with your upcoming deadlines!

Most of the sites I enjoy are not only quilting sites, but sites that talk about what is happening in their lives. One of my favorites is ThatManQuilts.blogspot.com He is a wonderful story teller as well as a quilter.
I love the halloween quilt – I think anything Halloween is great!

Great blog. Even just reading your giveaway info…I’m in…I’d love to follow! 🙂 Probably even sign up for e-mail subscriptions.
As far as modern quilting…that’s tough. Natalia at Piece N’ Quilt (www.piecenquilt.blogspot.com) does AMAZING long arm custom quilting. I pretty much love everything she does! And I know I’ve seen more I’d like to suggest, but can’t remember their exact sites! Hmm…may have to come back. 🙂
Thanks for a wonderful giveaway! I think I’d really like the Halloween pattern…I’m really thinking I need some better Halloween decor around the house, and this would be perfect!

I’ve only made one complete quilt so far, therefore I don’t have any idea what the difference is between traditional, contemporary and modern quilting etc, so I’m of no help to you. I’m going to follow your blog though so I can see what ideas others’ refer you to…or that you yourself find along the way. Being new to ‘quilting’ I’d be happy with either of the patterns *winks* Hugs Naomi

I’m not sure what you mean by modern quilting, but have you visited 365 Days of Free Motion Quilting Filler Designs? (http://www.freemotionquilting.blogspot.com) I’m doing a free motion machine quilting qal with Christine from A Few Scraps, which is showing us the basics. If you’re creative, once you can FMMQ you can do what you desire, (as in, Quilt as desired:) I like both patterns. It’s hard to choose between cute pumpkins and beautiful birds. I would choose the birds for the challenge.

I am sorry, I do not do much more than stitch in the ditch, and don’t know where to send you. AllPeopleQuilt.com used to have good advice and slideshows but I haven’t been there since they merged with good housekeeping ages ago.

Yup – I’m new to all these quilting blogs, and I’m new to quilting too. Pretty much all my info comes from tutorials (cluck cluck sew comes to mind) and how-to’s over on About.com. And I try to pick the brains of the ladies in the quilt shops. I’m loving Kelly’s blogs over at IHAN (I have a notion) – she will keep you in stitches! Which pattern do I want? I’m not choosy – I’ll be happy with either one! But, if I had to say a preference, I’d love to learn how to make those birdies fly! Thanks for the fun!

I would really like to see how the Esch House Quilts’ Traffic Pattern works, what a lovely quilt. I don’t know of any specific blog that caters to the patterns you are refering to, but I will second the 365 days of quilting. She does some wonderful patterns that can interwoven in a quilt as the fabric calls you to quilt!! thank you for your generosity! Susan(at)mathisons(dot)org
